Oni: Thunder God’s Tale – Marza Animation Planet has recently collaborated as a production partner on a CGI animated series directed by Dice Tsutsumi, which has won Best TV/Media - Limited Series & Best Production Design - TV/Media at the 50th Annie Awards!

We would like to announce that ONI: Thunder God’s Tale, a CGI animation Netflix series which Marza Animation Planet Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO Akira Sugano, hereinafter referred to as Marza), a group company of SEGA CORPORAITON orporation (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO COO: Yukio Sugino, hereinafter referred to as SEGA), served as one of the production partners on the Netflix series, has won Best TV/Media - Limited Series & Best Production Design- TV/Media at the 50th Annual Annie Awards.
The Annie Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the animation industry, and the award was announced at the awards ceremony held in Los Angeles on February 25 (local time). ONI: Thunder God’s Tale, was nominated in a total of six categories, including Best Director, Best Character Design, Best Character Animation, and Best Music, in addition to Best TV/Media - Limited Series and Best Production Design- TV/Media.
The series is now available as a Netflix Original show, streaming in 190 countries and territories and 31 different languages. It is a story about Onari, a tomboy who lives a boho life in the world of gods and yokai that appear in Japanese folk tales. It was directed by Daisuke ‘Dice’ Tsutsumi of Tonko House, an animation studio based in San Francisco and Kanazawa (Japan), and the story was written by Mari Okada.
For all four episodes, Marza was responsible for about 60% of the animation production, as well as part of character setup, background & props modeling, and some layout production work. This is Marza's second time working on a Tonko House production, following the animated short film, MOOM (2016).
