SEGA’s subsidiaries, The Creative Assembly Ltd. and Sports Interactive Ltd. have received awards at the 'Best Places to Work Awards 2022 (UK)' held by GameIndustry.biz, a British gaming industry media company. Creative Assembly achieved the criteria set by GameIndustry.biz to secure the title of being one of the UK’s "Best Places to Work" and also received a special "Educational Award". In addition, Sports Interactive Ltd. received the "Environmental Award".
The Creative Assembly Ltd. has now been named as one of the UK’s Best Places to Work for the 6th consecutive year. However, this year the studio also received an Educational Award for its outreach program, The Legacy Project, which aims to address societal inequalities by improving access to technology and education. In 2021 the program provided over £30k in technology and launched a new scholarship programme to students with Teesside University.
Sports Interactive Ltd. won the Environmental Award, a special award given to companies that work to help mitigate climate change. Sports Interactive Ltd. received the award for their continued work on sustainable game packaging for their Football Manager series, and in helping roll out the initiative for SEGA Europe’s other PC titles.
In order to take part, each company had to answer written questionnaires including details such as pay, holidays, benefits, social activities, and more. This was checked by the GameIndustry.biz team and was worth 20% of the final score. The bulk of the score lies in the results of employee surveys. Organizers sent surveys with over 50 questions for staff to respond to, with the survey covering numerous topics including working environment, work/life balance, management, diversity, and more. This was worth 80% of the final score. The winners are decided as the companies whose overall score exceeds the threshold set by GameIndustry.biz. This year, 17 companies were awarded including Creative Assembly.
