The SEGA CORPORATION is excited to announce that cumulative global sales for the online RPG PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2 (hereinafter PSO2) have reached 100 billion yen, with the total number of registered users worldwide surpassing 9 million.

PSO2, the successor of the PHANTASY STAR ONLINE series which helped build the foundations of the online RPG genre, is a free-to-play online RPG and was first released for PC (Windows) in July 2012. From April 2016, the PlayStation®4 console version was also released, as was the PSO2 Cloud service from April 2018 for Nintendo Switch™ as a cloud game that allows users to play without having to download large amounts of game data. In December of the same year, the Windows PC version of the service was released, with the global version following in 2020.

In June 2021, the domestic and global versions of PHANTASY STAR ONLINE 2 NEW GENESIS (hereinafter NGS) were released simultaneously as the newest title in the series, having completely renewed PSO2’s game system, graphics engine and more.

Within NGS we will continue to add content and updates, as well as hold all kinds of event campaigns so that players can enjoy the game even more.
