Q1
Before Joining SEGA

My interest in data and marketing began with a long-term internship at an advertising agency while I was a student. After graduating, I continued on that path into the advertising industry, working in everything from digital marketing consulting to team management. I later took on a customer success role at a SaaS startup, helping customers make effective use of its analytics tools. No matter where I went, one thing remained constant throughout my career: using data to drive results.

Q2
Why I Joined SEGA

A former colleague's recommendation sparked my interest in joining SEGA. I had been providing marketing and analytics support for client companies, but I wanted to pivot to an in-house position where I could play a more active part in decision-making and execution. The gaming industry produces a vast range of data, from sales to promotions and everything in-between. The opportunity to leverage that data to drive marketing and business growth at SEGA was incredibly exciting to me. I saw so much potential there.

Q3
My First Assignments at SEGA

I started as a member of the digital marketing team, handling Like a Dragon, PSO2, and other titles. As the digital marketing lead for those titles, I planned promotional strategies, directed our external partners, and oversaw creative production. I worked closely with everyone involved, following each promotion through planning, rollout, and postmortem analysis. Since every title has a different audience and its own challenges, we continuously explored different approaches to achieve the best results.

Q4
Biggest Surprise After Joining SEGA

Having worked at fast-paced consulting firms and startups, I expected it would take much longer to implement new ideas at a company as large as SEGA. While there are processes to follow, people are open to new ideas and support you in making them happen. It was definitely a pleasant surprise seeing how receptive the company is to new initiatives.

Dashboard developed and managed by D.I.'s team. It provides real-time data on global sales and other key metrics for released titles.

Q5
Current Duties

I currently lead the Data Management Team.
To try to maximize sales, we consolidate sales figures, target tracking, and marketing results in one convenient place for processing, visualization, and analysis. An important part of my role is sharing the insights we glean across the company to guide future strategies and decisions. I also lead a team of engineers and analysts, overseeing projects and day-to-day operations.

Q6
Motivation and Successes

One project I'm particularly proud of is the development of our automated sales dashboard. Before we built it, each department had to gather its own figures and put together weekly reports, which took a lot of time. Now, everyone from executives to frontline staff can quickly find the numbers they need, cutting down on manual work and enabling faster decision-making. It's been really satisfying to hear how it's made data easier to understand and use.

Q7
Future Goals

I'd like to use AI and machine learning to take our analysis to the next level. Beyond tracking performance and measuring results, I want to explore ways to forecast sales and better understand what drives them. My goal is to shift from reviewing past results to anticipating future trends, so we can make faster, better-informed business and marketing decisions.

Q8
SEGA's Appeal

What stands out most is the kind people and openness to taking on new challenges. When you run into a problem, there's always someone you can turn to, so you never feel like you're tackling things alone. There's also a growing shift toward complementing insight and experience with data-driven insights when making decisions. If you want to drive new initiatives with data, you'll find a lot of support at SEGA.

Q9
Message to Applicants

I'd love to work with people who want to use data to make an impact and are naturally curious about questions that don't have easy answers. Games generate a huge amount of data, from sales to promotions. The challenge is figuring out what it all means and how to turn those insights into something that makes a real difference. If you enjoy not just analyzing data, but building the systems that bring it to life, there's a lot to get excited about here.

Q10
A Recent Highlight

I recently had the chance to attend a gaming event in Shanghai. Seeing people dressed as SEGA characters, having fun playing titles at the booth, and cheering at our stage events was amazing. Since I usually spend my days working with data, seeing the excitement of fans firsthand left a powerful impression on me.
