Please tell us what you have done so far and what you are doing now.
After joining SEGA, I was in charge of designing one of our new game cabinets. By doing that, I gained more knowledge not only about visual design but also about the physical design of arcade cabinets and the mechanisms of arcade software. It was a great experience. I still have limited knowledge about the materials we handle, but I would like to learn more in the future. Currently, I am working on a new project as an artist. I liaise with other departments and have meetings so I can manage schedules. There are busy days, but I enjoy my work thanks to the senior employees around me.
What do you find enjoyable or rewarding about your work?
I feel a sense of accomplishment when a cabinet I designed is actually completed. I can also check the reactions of users on the Internet, and sometimes just looking at those reactions makes me happy. Reactions from users are very important because we discover things that can lead to future improvements.
What are your dreams, ambitions and future goals at the SEGA Group?
I want to improve as an artist. I want to become more knowledgeable about materials and be able to make proposals to business partners.
What does the SEGA workplace feel like?
There are many interesting people with diverse interests here. My coworkers love to talk about fun and frivolous topics that don't involve work, which cheers me up if I'm ever feeling down.
Do you have any advice for students?
Before joining SEGA, I didn't know much about arcade games. In the course of working here, I've learned how to completely design a game cabinet and have really come to understand the appeal of the job. Sometimes it's difficult, but just as many fun experiences also await. Come experience that fun with us!
