Please tell us what you have done so far and what you are doing now.
I joined the company as a motion designer and have been involved in the production of about seven titles so far. In addition to motion, I have also been in charge of visual effect scenes and cinematics, and I am also a design leader. I currently supervise motion in various projects by coordinating motion designers in my department.
What do you find enjoyable or rewarding about your work?
When I see players at arcades enjoying the games I developed, I feel happy about my work. Also, when games I worked on trend on social media, I catch myself grinning at the thought that something I worked on made so many people happy and excited.
What are your dreams, ambitions and future goals at the SEGA Group?
I want to create a trend that becomes a symbol of the times. SEGA has created trends such as "Crane Games", "Purikura" photo sticker booths and kids' card games found in arcades. The company helps me take on new challenges, so I want to keep giving shape to new ideas.
What does the SEGA workplace feel like?
This is a workplace where employees get along well with each other and it has a good atmosphere so it is an easy place to work. Due to the nature of the work, there are many fans of games, anime, and movies working here, and many employees gather to play games during their lunch breaks. There is plenty of communication during work and there's an atmosphere that makes it easy to speak with each other.
Do you have any advice for students?
Making games is so much fun that sometimes you forget you're actually working! Of course, it's not always smooth sailing, but there's joy and a sense of accomplishment that outweighs such hardships. I think everyone who works here enjoys making things. The things we make here give joy and excitement to people all over Japan and around the world... Doesn't that give you a thrill just thinking about it? SEGA has an environment that makes this possible. Come work with us and provide the world with exciting new experiences!
